Olympus Dictation App - Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Olympus Dictation App.
Where can I download the Olympus Dictation App from?
AppStore for iOS and Google Play for Android.
Can I download the Olympus Dictation app for free?
There is a free version of the app, but the features are limited in comparison to the licensed version.
Are there any "locked" features in the trial version of the Olympus Dictation App?
There is no difference between the full version of the app and the trial version, other than the trial is limited to 30 days.
Can the recording format be changed when using the Olympus App?
The free version of the app will only record in the AAC/AMR format, but the audio quality can be adjusted. With the licensed version of the app, the recording format is set via the Olympus Dictation Portal, the formats available are DS2 and DSS.
Are my dictation secure?
A number of security options are available, including Encryption (up to 256-bit AES encryption) and sending via HTTPS, FTPS, SFTP, etc.
Can my reseller/Olympus access my dictations?
No, Olympus/Olympus resellers do not have access to dictations on the ODDS server. Enabling encryption will also prevent unauthorized access to your dictations.
What happens if I receive a call while dictation via the App?
The recording will be paused, when you return to the app it will bring up a prompt asking to continue recording or to stop
Will my dictations be stored on/copied to the ODDS Servers?
No, the server will simply deliver the dictations to the specified location.
Is it possible to install the Olympus Dictation app to another smartphone using the same login details?
The app can only be activated on one device at a time, if you wish to change the device, the license must be deactivated via the ODP before activating the license on another smartphone.
What is a Flashair Card?
The FlashAir card is an SD memory card with wireless LAN functionality designed by Toshiba. It allows users to connect to it wirelessly and access any files on it. This card can be used in place of a regular SD card in a DS-7000/3500 (on the latest version of firmware). The Olympus Dictation App then utilizes this by allowing users to connect to the card to retrieve dictations from their Professional voice recorder. They can then use the app to send these dictations.
Class 6, 8, and 10 cards are supported with the Olympus Dictation app.
Is it possible to migrate the settings from a Trial license to a Standard license?
Yes, as long as the Standard license has been purchased before the trial period is over.
